Bizarre Island is my diploma project. It is an immersive experience, for HTC Vive, created mostly in Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine. The inspirations for this project are wonders of nature, such as the Socotra Island, that has the most bizarre looking plants in the world, due to the separation from the land millions of years ago. However, I also looked at the work of surrealists and what goes with it, my own dreams, which gave me some ideas.
The eye was a heightmap for my project. Converting it to grayscale, the whites are 1-true and blacks are 0-false, grey tones complete the scale. The highest the number, the higher my hexagonal block is. The pupil is black, that is why my island has this hole in the middle.
